What Is A Brazilian Butt Lift?
According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, 97% of patients said they were satisfied with the appearance of their buttocks a year after their Brazilian Butt Lift.
Fat transfer can improve the appearance of the hips and buttocks in a few ways. Women with an athletic build and lean backsides can add roundness by receiving a fat graft that focuses on the indented sides of the buttocks. Women seeking a more balanced backside and lift can benefit from a fat transfer aimed in the upper portion of the treatment area. And a backside that is lacking in projection and appears droopy can gain volume and protrusion with a fat transfer that concentrates on the central and upper portions of the buttocks.
Benefits Of A Brazilian Butt Lift Procedure
While surgical butt lifts and Butt Implants both provide dramatic results, they also require larger incisions and more discomfort which is why many patients opt for a Brazilian Butt Lift procedure. The general benefits of a Brazilian Butt Lift include:
- The injection points are practically invisible, making this type of lift much less invasive.
- Lifelike as uses your own natural tissue to enhance the size of your backside so the results look more natural than butt implants.
- Slimming for the entire body as Liposuction is performed.
- Less invasive than other butt enhancement procedures as they require larger incisions and more discomfort.
- Improved self-confidence as the procedure can improve your body image.
- Long-lasting results so you can enjoy your enhanced buttocks for years to come if you lead a healthy lifestyle and avoid significant weight fluctuations.
Who Is An Ideal Candidate For A Brazilian Butt Lift?
The most suitable candidates for a Brazilian Butt Lift Procedure will be those who desire to enhance the size of their buttock and create a more rounded shape. Other factors which might make you a good candidate include:
- Good physical health
- Do not smoke
- Are within 30% of your ideal body weight
- Have adequate fat stores that can be collected for the injections
- Only want to enhance buttocks size not address issues of sagging
Preparing For A Brazilian Butt Lift
Before the Consultation
You should undertake research into the procedure and decide what your ideal figure would look like. It is often helpful to bring in photos of your desired result so that Dr. Liland can be clear on your goals and how much you wish to enhance your buttocks.
Consultation
Dr. Liland will perform an assessment of both your buttocks and your body to help recommend the most suitable areas for liposuction and how much fat to inject into the buttocks. He will also discuss your goals, medical history, current medications, and allergies.
Before the Procedure
It is important that our Dallas Brazilian Butt Lift patients stop smoking at least six weeks prior to their procedure to reduce the risk of complications occurring as a result of the surgery.
How Is A Brazilian Butt Lift Performed?
Anesthesia
Your procedure will be performed at our fully accredited surgical facility. Before beginning, our team will provide sedation to ensure you are comfortable. General anaesthesia is typically used for this procedure. For more information on the various sedation types available you can visit our Sedation Options page.
Incision
After you are sedated and made comfortable, fat will be carefully harvested from the predetermined site, such as the flanks, hips, thighs, or arms. This is achieved through performing Liposuction on the area. A small incision will be made and a canula will be inserted to vacuum out the fat deposits to be used for the transfer.
Fat Isolation
To gather the fat tissue, Dr. Liland will first perform liposuction. He may utilize the techniques of tumescent liposuction to diminish potential side effects of the procedure. Once the fat cells are gathered, he will place them into a centrifuge, a device which rotates rapidly to separate fluids of different densities. This process purifies the fat to ensure only the best tissue is used in your injections
Fat Injection
Dr. Liland will then layer tiny droplets of the processed tissue into the buttocks to maximize retention. This layering method also provides a completely smooth, natural-looking appearance. Scarring from this procedure tends to be very minimal as small liposuction incisions and fat injections are used.

Recovery From A Brazilian Butt Lift
It takes most of our Dallas Brazilian Butt Lift patients several weeks to return to normal after the procedure. Initially, after the surgery is complete, compression garments will be provided to reduce inflammation and swelling. Some discomfort, bruising, and swelling are normal and should begin to subside after a few days. Most side effects should completely resolve within several weeks. Patients can expect to return to work within two to three weeks, while strenuous activities should be avoided for a month or until Dr. Liland provides his approval. Our ‘Brazilian Butt Lift Recovery In Dallas‘ blog provides more detailed information on the aftercare advice and tips following the procedure.
Since liposuction is performed as well as a fat grafting procedure to the buttocks, the two areas will recovery differently. The areas where you have undergone liposuction will likely have significant swelling and so the results from the procedure will not be completely visible for a few months after the procedure. For specific liposuction recovery instructions, you can read our blog ‘12 FAQs About Liposuction Aftercare.’
Patients should see an enhanced figure right after their Brazilian butt lift surgery, as the fat grafting produces immediate results, with the full effects of the procedure becoming more noticeable as swelling subsides in the upcoming weeks. This procedure is often performed as a standalone option, but it can be combined with other cosmetic enhancements, like a Breast Lift or Breast Implants, for even more striking results.
Risks
The risks of the procedure will differ slightly depending on the areas liposuction was performed, but generally, the risks include:
Initial Side Effects:
- Swelling
- Bruising
- Discomfort/ pain
Brazilian Butt Lift Risks:
The risks specific to a Brazilian Butt Lift procedure are higher than for other cosmetic surgeries. If you have any questions or concerns you can discuss these during your consultation.
- Swelling
- Skin infection (cellulitis)
- Injected fat can cause a fatal blockage in a blood vessel
General Surgery Risks:
- Infections
- An allergic reaction to the anesthetic
- Blood clots (can lead to DVT)
